If it's US$, it's too expensive for me. I'm on a very TIGHT budget.

Besides, I just bought this card. There is no way I am buying another card just becos it's "better" less than a year of getting this one.

Re: Testing My New ATI 4650 ON COD4

Get the 4850, it's only $120ish now which is a bargain. It is SIGNIFICANTLY better than the 4650.

4870 > 4850 > 4830 > 3870 > 3850 > 4670 > 4650 > etc

You can play Crysis on high at 1280x1024 with the ATI4850, and get about 50fps average. With the 4650, you'll get maybe 10 fps average.

Re: Testing My New ATI 4650 ON COD4

yeh...a 4830 gets about 60fps on average at your resolution and gfx settings, and a 4850 gets 80-90 average. A 4870 gets over 100 fps on average.

You could've also bought a 4670, only $10 more than a 4650 but 30-40% better performance.

Re: Testing My New ATI 4650 ON COD4

Heh why not, since the 4650 is almost like a "value" card now.. for the amount of money, you really get a LOT for it. Note that I haven't even mucked around with overclocking the thing yet - it's still at the default factory setting of 600/400Mhz for GPU and Memory...

Re: Testing My New ATI 4650 ON COD4

I'm wavering between buying this 4650 card or paying twice as much for the 4850, for twice the price. I'm thinking the best value would be the 4650. Especially considering I'm taking the leap from the 1600XT. Hah. Almost embarrassed to admit that :)

Re: Fallout 3 - The Brass Lantern?

Heh that's what I am saying.... If spotted sprint away and sue th slide movement to duck behind a bush or rock. As long as you stay in longer grass or bushes with the camo suit you should be alright.

When sprinting away listen to what they say, if it's something like we've lost him or where'd he go then you can sneak (SNEAK) back into another sniper spot.

spliinters17

Re: Stealth In Far Cry 2 Is Non-Existent

The "crouch button don`t make you invisible.. :-/ Take your time, your game play is not stealth... it`s crough and run... I always thought it had more potential.

Re: Stealth In Far Cry 2 Is Non-Existent

What? That the Machete is not stealthy doesent mean the HOLE GAME is not stealthy!
You dont have ONE stealthy weapon!

If you want to kill a person and dont get noticed you have to shoot them with :
Silent marakov (headshot) or The best option the Dart Rifle.

The machete is not STEALTHY AT ALL

Oh and who wouldnt hear a guy screaming in pain for a machete blow? Dont tell me you didnt listen him scream!

He was like AAAGH! AGHHH!

What do you expect, that his buddies say: ''Hey someone screamed, im sure its not one of us''
I ONLY play this game in stealth, and i always kill everyone! And if i get seen i hide! I don't mind the "jaggy edges" since most of the time I'm running for my life than admiring the scenery :D

Besides, at 1280x1024, one tends not to notice jaggy edges anyway.. :)

Oh yes the crashing to desktop thing - yeah it happens randomly. Sometimes it can happen when you're "zoning" to a new area. Sometimes right after a savegame load.

One particular crash that Bethesda hasn't fixed yet is the "Talk To Mr Burke In The Saloon" bug. I got sick of seeing him waving to me to "come over" and I can't talk to him cuz that'll cause a crash. So, I killed him in the saloon. I thought I'd get a bounty on my head (like in Oblivion) but instead, everybody thanked me and said "Good riddance".... hahaha!

Re: Fallout 3 Is Here!

My problem was that it kept crashing back to desktop. Two solutions worked for me,

1) Playing in windowed mode

2) Turning off AA.

I stuck with 2, cause not use to playing in windowed mode. hoho fun game!

Re: Far Cry 2

Heh yeah I know but for now, I'm more or less happy with what I have. I'll be thinking about utilizing the CrossFire function of the ATI drivers if/when I do get a new card, so I'll probably get something that can work with the embedded chip.

Re: Far Cry 2

You should really get yourself a decent graphic card like GF9600GT or a R4850. lol good games are coming out and you gonna miss them if you machine is not capable to run them in decent graphic level.

Re: Crysis Warhead

1) Still haven't found it :( Damn irritated that I can't shoot those helos down.
2) Well I'm still in the game and not rushing through it. If a Mass Effect movie ever comes out I'll definitely go see it, but I'm not really holding my breath. The budget should be somewhere near Star Wars due to the huge amounts of CGI needed to pull off some of the scenes....

Re: Coming Soon - Mass Effect Movie!

I would be excited if I play the game before but no.... the movie doesn't interest me ^^

Re: Spore Protection Is Crippling It

Thanks for dropping by and sharing your thoughts. Yeah I'm just ranting about the protection "features" for making us legit customers jump through hoops.

It's ironic that the pirates seem to be "providing a service" to people in that they remove the inconveniences we have to go through to play a game. I will admit I generally download NOCD cracks for my legitimately-bought original games, just cuz I normally store the disks back in the box after I have installed them and put them away in the cupboard.

Re: Spore Protection Is Crippling It

Amongst other things captchas are also quite annoying, but they work on some sort of level. As for anti-pirating software, yes, it is also annoying, but I wouldn't be surprised if these 'hoops' will actually work someday on some sort of level like captchas, perhaps getting less annoying over time.

I would be more worried if all gaming companies simply didn't care if their game was pirated or not. Lost revenue is lost revenue, and if you want your favorite gaming company to keep making games then you should understand. Hell, if pirating keeps growing what will happen to companies that make games purely for the PC? Will they be forced to make 360 and PS3 versions?

Spore did go go overboard in forcing its consumers to reinstall the game three times over. That hurts the overall gaming experience (compared to an 'installation experience') and the company's reputation as a whole.

Anyway, interesting read and nice heads up. I had no clue some companies went this far in protecting their games.

Re: New PC Performance

Heh thanks for the tip.
